Many of us have become increasingly concerned with making the best choices possible when it comes to what our families eat. This means choosing nutritious, quality food that’s good for us and the environment.

For families looking for easy ways to make sustainable food choices, chef Charlotte Langley shares three easy ways to get started.

  1. Choose traceable food sources
Most people want to protect the planet however they can, and it’s no secret that planet health is linked to human health. By doing little things such as making sure the seafood you purchase is traceable back to responsible fisheries that are working hard to protect the ocean, you’re making a sustainable choice and ensuring the ocean is still around for us in the future.

  2. Choose wild-caught seafood
Wild-caught fish is chock-full of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, which is great for providing healthier skin and hair, and even better heart health. Not only are high-omega foods great for kids and adults, but did you know you can also feed them to your pets? Feeding cats and dogs wild-caught seafood high in omegas helps provide a healthy skin and coat and strong muscles, including a healthy heart.

  3. Look for the blue Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) label
This label is applied to wild fish or seafood from fisheries that have been certified to a set of requirements for sustainable fishing. When purchasing any kind of seafood at your local market or grocery store, look for the label before you buy. And check out options available for your pets by choosing select Purina Beyond dog and cat food that now includes MSC-certified varieties.
