The last year has been a demanding one, and if there’s one thing we could all use, it’s a little bit of indulgence. Here are some simple ways to focus on yourself without breaking the bank.

  • Take a day off

With international travel off the table, many Canadians paused their vacation plans during the pandemic. But if you haven’t been taking time off, you’ve been doing yourself a disservice. With the weather still pleasant in most of Canada and a lot of conversations happening about burnout, there’s never been a better time to take some well-deserved vacation days.

  • Carve out time for you
Odds are good that during the workday, there’s something else you’ve been longing to do, whether it’s reading the book sitting on your bedside table, enjoying a meal at your favourite restaurant, or going on a hike you’ve been dying to check out. With life returning to normal, why not schedule some time in your busy calendar for something that really matters to you?

  • Pamper your body
Focusing on you also means taking care of your body. Bubble baths, facials, shaves, massages, and haircuts can all give us a big boost and make us feel a little more normal. The same goes for exercise, which can have a major impact on not just our physical health but our mental well-being, too.

  • Buy something small
A big-ticket purchase can sometimes come with its own stress, but buying something small is the perfect way to get a little kick. If you use a credit card like the PC Financial Mastercard, you can even earn points to spend on future indulgences.

  • Have a nap
Power off your phone, close the lid on your laptop, and take a well-deserved nap—without setting an alarm. Not only can napping improve your mood and energy levels, but it can help make you more productive.
