Stay Indoors For Your Full Body Workout This Winter
You look outside your window and you see snow covering the sidewalks and streets. You think about pulling on your jacket and your boots to get ready to hit the gym – but do you really need to leave your home for that full body workout? Here are some of our favourite stay-at-home, full body workout exercises.
Strengthen your triceps with this exercise. Position your hands shoulder-width apart on a chair and slide your butt off the front with your legs extended straight in front of you. Straighten your arms then slowly bend your elbows to lower your body to the floor until your elbows are at a 90-degree angle. Keeping your back straight, slowly press down into the chair to straighten your elbows back to the starting position. Congratulations, that’s one rep! (30 reps)
Side Leg Squats
This isn’t your typical squat – you’ll definitely feel this exercise working out your butt and your lower love handles! Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold your hands out in front of you to balance. Then, bend your knees into the squat – imagine sitting in an imaginary chair. Rise back up and straighten your legs. Then, lift your right leg out to the side while squeezing your outer glute. Bring the leg back in and repeat, but this time alternate and lift your left leg out. You got this! (15 reps each side)
A straight forward, step by step exercise to work out your legs. If you have stairs at home, step up and down one foot at a time. If you do not have stairs available, find a small sturdy chair/bench or even stack up a pile of thick books. If this is too easy, hold a weighted object in your hands as you step. The key to this exercise? Repetition.
Double Leg Circles
One of our favourite exercises to workout our lower abs is the double leg circle. Lying down flat on your back, lift your legs straight up with your feet pointing to the ceiling. With your legs moving together (still staying as straight as possible), continuously move them in a circular motion to complete the exercise.
