After receiving a compliment for her “perfect life,” she took to Facebook to share the reality

In the age of social media, it can be easy to think your followers have the perfect lives, but 21-year-old mom Cierra Fortner is proving that things aren’t always as amazing as the filters make them seem.

The Kansas City, Missouri native took to Facebook last month after a cashier complimented her seemingly flawless façade.

“Today I was at Walmart doing my weekly Friday shopping when the cashier says to me ‘I see you in here all the time, your kids are always dressed cute, behaving and you just seem to have it all together,’” she wrote in a post that now has more than 164,000 shares. “At the time I just thanked her and giggled because that’s far from the truth but as I drove home there was more I wanted her to know about me.”

The mother then went on to detail how she suffers from a personality disorder and battles anxiety and depression. She explained to her followers that her life is nowhere near as perfect as it seems.

“I want her to know that my son is late for school 3 out of 4 days because I regularly forget what day and time it is, despite the toddler size calendar in my kitchen. I want her to know I have those ‘I’m losing my shit’ moments when I have to lock myself in the bathroom and cry.”
